Clinical Psychologist

Dr Tabitha West

My name is Tabitha, and I’m a Clinical Psychologist with years of experience working with children, young people, and adults living with a range of emotional difficulties related to their mental and physical health.

I have experience supporting people who are living with anxiety, low mood, and self-criticism, as well as those who have been through painful life experiences and relationship difficulties.

A significant part of my work in the NHS has involved helping people to navigate the psychological impact of physical health conditions – whether that is adjusting to a diagnosis, managing fears about the future, or coping with changes in identity and roles.

I am particularly passionate about supporting people to build a meaningful and fulfilling life, even in the presence of ongoing physical health challenges or uncertainty.

I am also experienced in supporting neurodivergent children and adults across a range of contexts, including developing understanding of autism or ADHD after receiving a diagnosis.

I am committed to working in a way that is inclusive and neuro-affirming, and will always do my best to adapt sessions so they consider any neurodivergence-related needs you might have.

I believe that safety and trust in the therapeutic relationship is incredibly important, and, in therapy, I endeavour to create a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space.

I take an integrative, person-centred approach, drawing from a range of psychological therapies to tailor our work to your individual needs.

I primarily draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and incorporate elements of Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) where it feels that would be helpful for you.

My areas of clinical interest include:

  • The impact of physical health conditions or events on mental health

  • Anxiety

  • Low mood

  • Low self-esteem

  • Relationship difficulties
  • Self-criticism

  • Sleep difficulties
