CBT is a popular form of therapy for common mental health difficulties, such as anxiety and depression.

Backed by evidence

There is a strong evidence base for CBT, and it is recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) for the treatment of anxiety disorders, depression, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and psychosis.

How CBT works

During CBT, you and your therapist together will explore you thoughts, feelings and behaviours, in order to help better understand your mental health difficulties.

Often, people get stuck into damaging and unhealthy patterns of behaving or thinking, and feel unable to break the cycle.

Your therapist will use CBT to help assist you understand your problems, identifying where changes could bring about improvements.

Therapy schedule

Your therapist will discuss the details with you at your initial assessment, and take into account any personal or mitigating factors that may alter the above standard plan.

Your path to better mental health

Therapy is offered to families who are seeking help for a psychological problem, or problems, that exist for one or more family members.

How does family therapy work?

The therapy is provided by one of our expert, dedicated, and caring therapists.

It aims to understand the problem from the perspective of each family member. This helps the family to identify ways in which they can work together to resolve existing difficulties.

How do we begin?

An initial assessment with your therapist will help you to identify a course of sessions to work towards agreed goals.

Sessions are usually weekly, and all family members will have time in between to try out tasks which are set as shared goals.

The duration of sessions can vary, but are usually 1 to 1 ½ hours long, typically for 10-12 sessions.
